Cygen completes SimpleDeploy beta testing and releases the official 1.0 version. Along with this version is SimpleDeploy’s first pricing structure. SimpleDeploy will initially be $19.95 with the Professional version at $24.95. The Professional version will secure FTP access. SimpleDeploy’s trial now runs for 30 days.

Version 1.0.0.0 includes the following new features:

  • Resizing of main form to full screen.
  • Ability to get all file extensions for a profile (root and sub folders).

You’ll notice a new button on the Filters tab, “Get All”, which is related to getting all file extensions for the current profile’s local root folder.

You may also still delete extensions by clicking the extensions checkbox and then saving the profile.

Customers wishing to continue submitting issues may receive credit toward upgrades, either a Professional version or full upgrade release. Beta testing will continue for new releases which customers may also participate in.

With the 0.9.7.3 release, Cygen SimpleDeploy introduces secure FTP transfers. SSL or TSL can be used. The secure port number can be modified to your liking. Once the Enable Security checkbox is ticked, the regular FTP port number is overridden with the secure port number. A save button has also been added to the Server Settings tab for convenience.

An issue with users that are locked into the root folder specific in SimpleDeploy has been corrected.

A Small Program Meets a Big Problem

Getting your website uploaded can sometimes prove a chaotic endeavor.  Deploying a website sometimes looks like this: Digging through the file system to find the most recently updated files, uploading the wrong files and causing different types of errors on your site, taking an afternoon to write a tedious script that still doesn’t work like you want it to.  These are all to common scenarios when deploying a website or web app.  Surely someone has written something to make this chore much simpler.  Scour the web and you’ll be very disappointed…

…until now.  Cygen SimpleDeploy burst onto the scene like a cheetah chasing a small animal across the Savannah.  From it’s first beta release, SimpleDeploy met all of the above needs along with the option for multiple website profiles, which allow you to switch between different website deployments.  After setting up a profile, deploying a website or web app can be done in under half a minute.  If you are only doing updates in succession, clicking the deploy button is all that is needed.

SimpleDeploy’s future doesn’t lay in only website/web app deployment.  It will expand to website verification, which makes sure your most recent deployment doesn’t cause any unpleasant experiences for your customers.  Also coming is SQL script deployment to help push out the latest updates to your Microsoft SQL Server.  SimpleDeploy is all about getting deployments out of the door quickly and painlessly.

You can try a current 45 day trial beta at http://www.cygen.com/simpledeploy/.  I encourage your comments.  You’ll be generously compensated for helping to make SimpleDeploy a better deployment solution.  I hope SimpleDeploy changes how you do deployments and makes that areas of your software life cycle much simpler.

Kind regards,
Brett Romero
